First Brum Twestival prizes confirmed

Posted on: 25 February 2010 (4 weeks ago) at 2025 - Comment

A huge thank you to Dave Harte and Craig Hamilton who’ve donated two money-can’t-buy prizes for Brum Twestival.

Dave’s prize is a box of organic vegetables grown on his own allotment. The prize winner picks the vegetables they want and then Dave will plant and lovingly nurture them. In mid-summer they’ll be ready for the winner to pick them up and enjoy the fruits of Dave’s labour.

Craig’s prize has become a bit of a Twestival tradition: a cover of the winner’s choice by his band Friends of the Stars. He’s also donating four Commercially Inviable Records CDs from: Friends of the Stars, James Summerfield, World of Fox and Gurdan Thomas.

We’re hoping to be able to give away lots more prizes on the night. If you’d like to donate a prize to the Brum Twestival raffle, email kate.s.hughes@gmail.com

The infamous YMCA raffle.

Over the past two Brum Twestivals, the raffles have taken on near legendary status, mostly thanks to Jon Bounds‘ effervescent drawing of the winning tickets.

This year we’re keen to make the raffle bigger and better than ever before, to encourage as many people as possible to attend and raise stacks of cash for Concern Worldwide

And following feedback from September’s event, we’re also going to have a special raffle for people who can’t make it on the night, so that everyone can enjoy the luck-of-the-draw fun.

If you would like to donate a prize to Brum Twestival email us: kate.s.hughes@gmail.com or jm@pmmconsultancy.com

Can you help us make a difference?

Posted on: 17 December 2009 at 2034 - Comment

On  25 March, 2010, Brum Twestival will take place, raising money for Concern Worldwide as part of Twestival Global for Education. Through the effort, generosity and energy of hundreds of Twitter festivals around the world, we will help give street children an education and lift some of our planet’s poorest children out of extreme and devastating poverty.

A twestival is a festival for people who are on Twitter. It is completely run by volunteers, is 100% for charity and can take any form - from a straightforward party to a series of events or talks.

We’re now looking for volunteers to join the Brum Twestival team to help arrange the event, promote it, sell tickets or give us a hand in any other way you think you can. If you’re interested, comment below, reply to our Twitter account or send us a DM.

Posted on: 12 September 2009 at 1637 - Comment

Thank you to everyone who came to, helped out at or donated to Brum Twestival. It was a great night and most importantly we raised £1241 for our charity Birmingham YMCA. More money has been pledged from Nokia, once their team has completed their N86 Tour of Twestivals around the world.

Thank you in particular to our sponsors Hello Digital, Aquila TV and Birmingham BEST for their support.

You can check out some pictures taken by our official photographer Lee Allen here. We’ll have a list of raffle winners up in the next couple of days.
